I have decided to have my hair cut but am unsure what style i want.....?

at the moment it is very long and straight, is very fine but heavy so i don't tend to get much volume in the roots, i am thinking of getting it cut to my shoulders and having layers put in, it needs to be long enough to put into a pony tail for work, my hair is dark brown and i am 23 so don't want an older style. any other suggestions? and i ahve tried perms in the past, they do not suit me, thanks for any advice.

i am a hairdresser for a start so hair cutting depends on your face shape if you have an oval face anything will suit you if you have a round face you should keep your length if your face is long you need to have your hair above your shoulders that way it makes your face look shorter the styles that are in at the moment in the uk are concave bobs but you say you have to tie it up for work so what i would say is go to a salon and ask for a consulation and the stylist should show you some books and you can decide from there any more info that you want you can contact me on the name i use on here oh yahoo messenger thanks hun

No perms. You might want one of these two styles:

1. Have it cut like the "shag" which was a style back in the 70s and 80s. It is modified now, and you can see in hair styling magazines it is versatile, and can be cut to compliment your face shape.

2.What I like, is to pick your length, part it in the middle, and have it all one length, with bangs, depending on shape of face. The good thing about this style is

a. It is so neat and smoothe

b. If you don't like it, you can get it layered

c. But if it is layered first, you have to wait for it to grow to do this.

i say follow your instincts - usually they are right - for me i have decided to get braided with a variety of colored - think bright purple red green as well as color closer to my natural color - in an effort to grow out my hair and also let my artistic side breathe. good luck with your do!

i would say your very lucky to av very long hair so keep alot of the length cut it 2 below the shoulders have short layers in the front and long layers at the back so it can still be tied back you could even consider having a fringe cut in
