New born hair cuts?

IS IT TRUE THAT YOU SHOULDNT CUT A NEW BORN BABY'S HAIR? WHEN IS IT SAFE?

New born hair cuts?

My daughter had her first two "haircuts" in the hospital when she was born. They had to shave some of her hair off to put her IV into her head!

I did cut her hair again when she was around 6 months old. My husband was teasing me that she looked shabby because the hair on the back of her neck was all different lengths. I tried cutting it with scissors, but she moved too much and most of the hairs back there were pretty short to try and cut. So I bought an ear/nose/eyebrow trimmer and I used that! I sat her in the Bumbo chair and had my husband distract her while I trimmed the back of her head. It took a few seconds and looked great! Now it is growing out evenly at the back and I haven't had to trim it again.

Contrary to a poster above, her hair is still shiny!

It's always safe. There is an old superstition that it is bad luck to cut a babys hair before their first birthday.

why would u want to, most dont have much hair anyways :)

It won't hurt the baby to cut his or her hair at all. Except for the fact that baby will likely move making it difficult to do.
